Decorating the Christmas tree is one of my children's favorite Christmas activities. They enjoy the time we spend talking and singing as we hurriedly "fluff" the branches of our artificial, that's fancy for fake ;), tree. They absolutely adore going through and hanging each of our ornaments, and chatting as we remember the things those ornaments represent. Every year we let our kiddos choose a special ornament and we also try to buy one at each location we visit and one to represent every place we've lived, like a peanut for Dothan or chilis for El Paso. As we open each ornament they purchased, or made, through the years, it is so fun to remember the things they each loved at a particular stage of their lives. It is truly one of our favorite holiday traditions. These portraits I created of our tree decorating this year make my mama heart so happy.
How have I been so blessed to photograph this sweet girl before she was born, as a newborn, and now at her cake smash?! This doesn't happen for me since we move so frequently. Luckily, her parents are our friends and another military family and we keep getting stationed together. :) I hope I get to photographer her many more times in her life.
She wasn't quite sure about her cake at first and got off to a slow start, but eventually she was trying to shove the whole thing in her mouth. It was super funny! Here are a few favorites from the session.
Sweet baby Lily and her parents breezed through their session. It was my shortest newborn session ever! That makes for happy parents, happy baby, and a happy photographer. :) She gave us so many cute faces, emotions, and real moments. I love capturing families and babies as they really are. I want parents to look back on their photos for years to come and remember those sweet interactions. This session made my heart happy because I feel like it does exactly that! Here are some of the photos her parents chose for their custom wooden photo box and wall.
If you are looking for a newborn photographer in El Paso, feel free to contact me to schedule your session today. All sessions take place at my studio in El Paso. I would love the privilege of getting to know you and your precious baby, and to capture one of the sweetest times in your life.
How blessed I feel to have photographed the Monney Family. What a great way to kick start my business here in El Paso, TX. We had a great time laughing and getting to know each other. I loved watching them have fun together. I enjoy when families surprise me, and they did. Usually it is the young kiddos that make me laugh as the giggle with their families, but these two teen girls were always laughing, which had me cracking up. I hope these photos remind them of the fun and love they share as well as bring a smile to everyone's face.
Here are some of our favorites that are going in their album and on their wall.
I love albums! I think I love them so much because I am a book lover. I don't enjoy reading on a tablet, I love the feel and smell of a book. I love the excitement and anticipation of turning a page and seeing what's on the next page. An album does the same thing for me. I can sit and revisit days past in a very tactile way, so much better than on my phone or computer.
Some people are not book and album lovers. I still want these people to have a beautiful, easy, tangible, and non-digital way to enjoy their photos. Photos sitting on a hard drive or disk are never enjoyed in the same way as printed photos. They seem to be shared and forgotten, or in the worst case unaccessible when hard drives crash or technology changes. (remember floppy discs?) So I offer my non-album lovin' clients print boxes. I help you group your favorite images and then deliver them to you on my signature deep matte paper in a beautiful heirloom box.
I wanted to share a sample that I personally delivered to a client's home earlier this week.
